Emily Singer
I graduated from Skidmore College with a major in Biology and a double minor in Environmental Science and Government. During my time at Skidmore, I had the opportunity to study the alga Penium margaritaceum, which introduced me to the world of photosynthetic unicellular organisms. I also had the chance to work at several internships studying different plants and mushrooms as sources for renewable products. After I graduated, I moved to Denver, Colorado, where I worked multiple jobs studying yeast and bacteria as model organisms for protein folding and sources of renewable materials. I then picked up my life and moved to Madagascar for half a year to survey coral reefs affected by pollution and climate change. Now, I am working in the Jonikas lab under Lianyong Wang studying the interactome of chloroplasts.
Outside of work, I like to hike, read, listen to music, socialize (hopefully we can do that again someday), watch tv, and play with as many dogs I can find.
